What Do I Wear in the Chambers During Treatment, and What Can I Do During My HBOT Session?
For safety, all patients wear hyperbaric-approved garments during treatment. You will be provided with either a two-piece scrub set or a gown, depending on your preference.
Our Sechrist monoplace hyperbaric chambers include smart TVs, allowing you to watch or stream your favorite shows, movies, or music during your session. Many patients find the treatment time relaxing and use it as an opportunity to unwind while therapy is underway.
Your technician remains nearby throughout the entire treatment to monitor your safety and comfort.
What should I expect at my HBOT appointment?
Please arrive 10–15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to check in with our reception team. You will be provided with a hyperbaric-approved scrub set or gown to change into, and your personal belongings can be securely stored in locked storage during your treatment.
Before entering the chamber, our certified hyperbaric technician will obtain your pre-treatment vital signs and prepare the chamber for your session. Once you are comfortably positioned, the technician will begin the treatment and help you select a show, movie, or music for entertainment during the session.
The chamber will gradually pressurize (descent) over approximately 10–15 minutes. Once the prescribed treatment depth is reached—typically 2.0–2.5 ATA depending on your treatment protocol—your 60- or 90-minute therapy session will begin. Your technician remains present and monitoring you throughout the entire treatment.
At the end of the session, the chamber will slowly depressurize (ascent) over another 10–15 minutes. After exiting the chamber, the technician will obtain post-treatment vital signs, which completes your visit.
How should I prepare for my HBOT appointment?
Please arrive to your appointment clean and free of makeup, hair products, lotions, deodorant, perfumes, or other personal care products, in accordance with our Prohibited Items Policy. All patients must review and acknowledge this policy prior to treatment.
We recommend bringing slippers or sandals to wear when walking from the changing area to the treatment room.
To help ensure you can comfortably equalize pressure in your ears during treatment, we suggest starting a nasal spray such as Flonase®, Afrin®, or Xlear® 1–2 days before your first appointment and continuing during your course of therapy. This can help keep your sinuses clear and make ear pressure changes easier to manage.
If you are unable to use nasal sprays or have any questions about this recommendation, please contact our office before your appointment so we can discuss alternative options.
Is HBOT Safe?
Yes, HBOT is a non-invasive and all-natural treatment. It is FDA-approved for certain conditions and widely recognized for its safety and therapeutic benefits.
Do you offer payment plans or financing?
Yes, we offer flexible payment options to help make treatment more accessible. We accept CareCredit and can also work with you to create a customized payment plan when needed. Our team is happy to discuss available options during your consultation or anytime you're ready to move forward with treatment.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
The number of sessions depends on your condition and goals. We suggest completing the self-evaluation form to determine eligibility for treatment and for a specific protocol recommendation.
What kind of chambers do you have at KnOxygen?
Our clinic is home to 2 Sechrist hard-sided monoplace chambers. The chambers are approximately 7 feet long (interior) and 3 feet in diameter. Our clients will be able to relax comfortably during treatment and watch their favorite movie or show on our connected smart TVs.
What safety measures are taken at KnOxygen?
Safety for our patients, staff, and facility is our highest priority. We strictly enforce our Prohibited Items Policy and require all patients to complete a detailed self-evaluation prior to treatment. When appropriate, additional medical clearance may be required to identify any potential contraindications for HBOT.
Our hyperbaric technician, certified through UHMS, has extensive medical training, and all team members participate in ongoing safety education and emergency preparedness training. Our clinic is appropriately staffed to respond to any emergent situations.
In addition to staff training, we maintain rigorous equipment safety standards. Our hyperbaric chambers and oxygen delivery systems undergo annual professional maintenance, along with daily, weekly, and monthly operational safety checks performed onsite. These measures ensure that every treatment is delivered in a controlled, well-maintained, and safe environment.
